RED Programs: Accepting Registration for November/December 2020.

BLUE Programs: FULL.

Coding with EV3

For students in grades 4 and 5

This program introduces students to the exciting world of robotics. Each student will have a Lego EV3 robot, a 2020 MacBook Air laptop, a challenge mat, and will experiment with visual programming blocks to solve different missions on a challenge mat every day.

Level 1: Students will learn how to program robots to perform simple movements such as moving forward, backward, turning and using an arm to collect pieces on the challenge mat.

Level 2: Students will use the ultrasonic, gyro and color sensors to program robots to react to the environment and make decisions. For example, they will use the color sensor to detect surfaces of different colors, and program the robot to follow a black line.

Level 3: Students will be challenged to solve missions on the 2020-2021 First Lego League Game Table Mat by creating their own functions and building several Lego mechanisms.

WHEN: Mondays from 5:15 to 6:16 (11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14, 12/21).

Cost: $170  (8 sessions)

Intro to SPIKE Prime Robotics

For students grades 2 and 3

For students in grades 2 and 3: Each student will have a SPIKE Prime set, a 2020 Macbook air laptop, and will build and program different projects every day. Students will build using the SPIKE large motors, medium motors, sensors and other Lego elements, and use block programming to bring their creating to life.

Level 1: Hopper Race, Kiki the Dog, Grabber, and Safe Deposit Box.

Level 2: Break Dance, Sit-up Counter, Weather Forecast Machine, and Brain Game.

Level 3: Build and program a simple robot to move and use sensors to react to the environment.

WHEN: Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm (11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 11/25, 12/2, 12/9, 12/16, 12/23).

Cost: $170  (8 sessions)

Game Design and Program

For students in grades 5 and 6

Students will create different games every month using GameSalad. They will create their own world with characters and use the built-in functions to add movement by using the intuitive icon-based environment. They can choose how objects react when they collide with each other or when the player presses a key on the keyboard; they can change the direction of a character when it reaches a boundary, they can program when to score or lose life, play sounds, or use physics properties.  By following simple steps on how to create games, even beginner students can quickly master the basics and use their knowledge and creativity to create sophisticated games.
Level 1: Monster Maze Game
Level 2: Fruit Fall Game
Level 3: Asteroid Game

WHEN: Wednesdays 5:15 to 6:15 (11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 11/25, 12/2, 12/9, 12/16, 12/23).

Cost: $170  (8 sessions)

Coding EV3 with Python

For students grades 6 and 7

This program is designed for middle school students to experiment with EV3 robots while learning and coding with Python. Each student will have a Lego EV3 robot, a 2020 Macbook air laptop, a challenge mat and will use Python programming to make their robot move and perform several tasks on the challenge mat.

WHEN: Fridays from 5:15 to 6:15 pm (11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 11/27, 12/4, 12/11, 12/18)

Cost: $150  (7 sessions)

Lego WeDo 2.0

For students in grades 1 and 2

This program is designed to engage elementary students in science, technology, and engineering fields. Each student will have one Lego WeDo kit and a programming device. They will work on themed projects such as racing cars, bee pollinator, recycling trucks, and earthquake simulators. Students use motors, sensors, and a variety of mechanical elements to build, modify and program to bring their creations to life.  Students will exercise creativity, problem-solving, and critical and logical thinking while completing several hands-on activities.

Level 1: Milo, Racing Car, Earthquake Simulator, and Pulling
Level 2: Bee Pollinator, Rescue Helicopter, Recycling Truck, and Preventing Food
Level 3: Moon Base, Grabbing Objects, Sending Messages, and My Own Project

WHEN: Thursdays 5:15 to 6:15 (11/5, 11/12, 11/19, 12/3, 12/10,12/17).

Cost: $130  (6 sessions)
